Christopher had sent the owl only the day before, but Horatio was reliable and had brought the response back in less than two hours. With all the problems that had been going on about Muggles and Muggleborns being killed, the Minister had pulled rank and decided that it would be best to take matters into his own hands. At least when it came to the safety of the students at Hogwarts, his beloved Clarissa included. He didn't want her, any of her friends, the professors, or any of the other students caught in the line of fire, so he was going to add defensive spells on top of the ones that Dumbledore already had in place.
He had arrived in Hogsmeade with his group of bodyguards in tow. He didn't want anyone to know that he was here for an official visit, so most of the guards, minus his two favorites, stayed in Hogsmeade at the pub. He then walked the road to Hogwarts, joking around with his guards and looking forward to his visit with Clarissa. Cause this is what it was to the eyes of the public. He had told Clarissa that he had business around Hogwarts, but he mention that it was literally AROUND Hogwarts. For all she knew, he was in Hogsmeade on business and took a few days off to visit her.
Sighing, he opened the gate to the school, feeling the pull of the defenses and nodding. They were good, he would give Dumbledore that, but more was needed. He walked the lawn of Hogwarts and got into the Entrance Hall. He was not to meet with Dumbledore around students, but he would go to his office later. For right now, he was waiting for Clarissa to meet him. His beloved, little Claribear.

Clarissa had been flustered all day, and she knew that it was only her dad visiting, which he did on an almost normal basis at Hogwarts. Another perk about him being Minister of Magic, perhaps. But still she had been high strung all day, knowing that her father was going to be at the castle, could be already at the castle for all she knew. And she wasn't exactly sure what that would mean for her day. She didn't really have anything pressing that she would need the time for, but she still wasn't exactly the picture of calmness as she had spent the entire Ancient Runes class bouncing and fidgeting around.
As soon as the professor released the students, Clarissa jumped out of her seat and nearly ran down to the Entrance Archway, where her dad always lingered to wait for her to come when he was visiting her. And sure enough, when she was close enough, she saw her dad standing around with his two favorite bodyguards. She giggled lightly and rushed over, jumping up and throwing her arms around her father's neck. She kissed him on the cheek before stepping back. "Hey, Daddy! Why are you here? And don't even give me that, 'I came to see my Claribear' nonsense. What is wrong with the country? Or better yet, the world? You and Mum can't keep your mind's in the country, much less the world." Clarissa grinned as she raised an eyebrow, obviously not buying the normal alibi that he used when coming down to Hogwarts.

Christopher smiled wide as his daughter ran down the stairs at him. He wrapped his arms around her, kissing her back. When she was back on the ground and facing him, she asked the question that he had been dreading from her. He kept the smile on his face as he spoke. "Can't I just be here on business and want to see my beautiful little girl?" He saw the look on her face that her mother got when she didn't believe him and sighed. "It's the stress lines on my face, isn't it? That's how you always know when something's wrong."
He wrapped his arms around her shoulder and pulled her away from the body guards, almost outside of the castle. He spoke as soon as he was clear that no one was listening to them. "There have been some Muggleborns killed. Two of them were just barely out of Hogwarts. The Ministry, mostly meaning me, are worried about the students of Hogwarts. I've come to double the security measures on the castle. I wanted to tell you, but it's not something you send your child through an owl."
He looked down and his feet and sighed. "I should have told you. I keep forgetting that you're an adult now. Would you care to help me with the spells? As a peace offering for not telling you everything?" He would count the spells as another part of her Auror training.

Clarissa giggled as her father kissed her on the cheek before setting her back down on the floor. She frowned as he again tried to assure her that he was merely here to see her, while doing some normal everyday business in Hogsmeade. Of course that didn't work and Clarissa frowned at him, unable to believe that he would think her still gullible enough to believe that load of crap. When he sighed and gave in, Clarissa smiled and shook her head. "No, you're just a horrible liar, Daddy. That and I'm just incredibly brilliant as well. I must get it from my mother." She grinned as she teased her father, although she still had not forgotten about what she had been curious about in the first place.
When he wrapped his arms around her shoulders and started pulling her off to the side, Clarissa frowned almost instantly. This could not be a good sign. If he was unwilling to talk about this even in front of his most trusted bodyguards, then things must be worse than she had originally thought to begin with. And after hearing the news for herself, she gasped. It was worse than she had originally thought it would be. And the mention of the muggleborns being killed made Clarissa think of Lily. Merlin, what would she do if something were to happen to her best friend?
"Oh my god, Daddy. Some of my best friends are muggleborn. Lily's a muggleborn! Do you know who is behind this? Or why they would do such a thing? I mean, sure I know of the pureblood supremacists. But no one would seriously go to such extents. Would they?" Clarissa turned back to her father from where she had been pacing slightly and at the look on his face, she almost broke down and lost it. "Oh my god. It's happening."
Clarissa was in shock for a moment, only to be startled out of it by her father asking her if she wanted to go along with him to set up the extra charms and spells to provide more protection for the castle and those inside it. She shook off her father's apology. She knew that he always meant the best by it and just had a hard time realizing that his daughter was a grown up. It probably didn't help that she was a Daddy's Girl still. She smiled at his attempted amends. Although of course the added help of having this as part of her Auror training didn't hurt matters either. "Of course. Besides, I totally would beat you at a duel again. And the next loser has to buy dessert and a butterbeer, remember? And in case you tried to back out, I had Santos listen in on the agreement. He's a witness, Dad. You can't back out now." Clarissa grinned as she teased her father.

Christopher shook his head slightly at his daughter, laughing. She was just like her mother had been at this age. He remembered every detail of the first time he had come here to ask Annette to date him. It had been in this exact spot. He looked at his daughter and smiled, reaching a few fingers out to brush hair out of her face. "You are so like your mother. Always trying to get the best of me."
He ran his fingers over his hair, trying to think about how to best phrase what he wanted to say. He had met Lily a few times, thought she was a wonderful girl, and didn't want anything to happen to her. He let the air out of his lungs a few times before speaking again. "I know that Lily is Muggleborn, Clari, and I don't want anything to happen to her. That is why ..." He paused, having about decided not to tell her what other precautions he had taken so that she wouldn't know just how severe this was. Finally he gave in to the temptation and told her. "I, personally, went to the home of most of the Muggles who have children attending Hogwarts. I placed protection spells around their homes and the areas that they frequent. Lily's house was the first that I went to, due to the last letter from you that spoke of her."
There. She now knew just how worried he was about everything. Now for the change in subject. "I still owe you a dessert and a butterbear from the last time we made a bet, Claribear. Seeing as it's not a Hogsmeade weekend, how about settling for dear old Dad having dinner here with you in the Dining Hall? Albus said that I can spend as much time up here as I want, or need, to. How about it?"

Clarissa smiled as her father laughed. Although she could tell from the look in his eyes that he was likely thinking about her mother and some vague memory from the past. He was very prone to those kinds of moments, and most of the time, Clarissa merely laughed at them. Although of course, she hoped that one day she could find someone would would think of her like that, and look at her the way her parents looked at each other. But of course, she wasn't going out looking desperately for anything right now. In fact, she was pretty clear in the relationship department, but that was perfectly alright with her. When her father teased her for being so much like her mother, Clarissa merely grinned brightly. "Of course I am. Otherwise, I would be like you. And we both know what a horrible misfortune that would be."
Although of course Clarissa sobered up at the serious and pained look on her father's face. She could tell that he was desperately upset and worried about something. And at the precautions that her father told her he had personally been taking, Clarissa smiled weakly at her father before throwing her arms around his neck again. "And that's why everyone loves you so much. You're the best Minister anyone could have ever hoped for. But of course, I'm paid to say things like that." Clarissa grinned as she joked with her dad, trying to lighten the mood.
Clarissa laughed as her father admitted to still owing her a dessert and drink. Although of course, the reminder that it wasn't a Hogsmeade weekend made her smile drop a little. And at the suggestion that he join her for dinner in the Great Hall, Clarissa laughed again. "Okay first off, surely you don't want to come all the way down here just to eat at Hogwarts again. And secondly, as much as I love you - do you realize how incredibly uncool it is to have a meal with your parents, made even more so by the fact that it's in the Great Hall? I mean, did Gramps or Grammy come to have a meal with you at random? Sure it's different because you're the Minister of Magic, and the big head guy and everything. But it still boils down to - you're my dad." Clarissa grinned mischievously as she teased her dad. Of course she would love to have a meal with her father, even if it was in the Great Hall, but she loved to tease her father even more.

Christopher laughed at his daughter's comments, pulling her into his arms and giving her a big, fatherly hug. It showed, even from a distance, just how much he loved her. He wanted her to know that so that she would know that he would never leave her. Sighing, he pulled back and looked up at Hogwarts, putting on a faux disappointed face. "I'm sorry, Clarissa, but you're just going to have to deal with me for the next couple of days. I'm staying in Hogsmeade, but I'll be in an out of Hogwarts for the majority of my visit."
He ran his fingers through her hair, letting it fan out in his fingers a little. "Besides, I'll be having dinner here tonight anyways. Dumbledore has requested my presence there. He said that it would boost morale in the students who have heard about the murders to see that the Minister isn't worried." He kissed her forehead before taking her back into the Entrance way. "He INSISTED that I eat dinner with you. You're stuck with me, love."

James yawned slightly at he made his way out onto the grounds around the school. He’d had to stay after class for falling asleep. Well it wasn’t his fault that the teachers were so damn boring and that he knew everything they were teaching. And if he didn’t know, he learned it easily enough! They needed to have one of those advance classes that actually forced him to study or something. Lily and Remus might die of shock though if he was studying, and Sirius would probably send his mother a scarf to bury her with.
His face lit up though when he saw Clarissa Kingsley. He was about to go over and make his daily rude/snide/sexual comment when he realized who was standing next to her. He raised a brow, walking over to the two. “Kingsley, don’t you think you’re a bit old to being having Dinner with your ‘Daddy’?” he asked. He hadn’t been sure if he’d wanted to be his usual self around her with her Dad there. He decided that Clarissa wouldn’t like it if he treated her differently, so he hadn’t.
He came to a stop next to the two of them and turned to her father. “How are you today . . . should I call you Minister or Mr. Kingsley?” he asked. It may have seemed disrespectful, but he was truly curious on how he wanted to be called. He eyed the Body Guards slightly before looking back at the Minister, not really bothered by them. James was pretty sure he could handle his own against them for some time. His father had been and Auror and had taught him a thing or two.

Clarissa shook her head, acting playfully disappointed when her father said that she would be stuck with him for the next several days. And at his comment that Professor Dumbledore had INSISTED on him eating dinner with her, Clarissa groaned, exaggerating it just a bit. "Oh great. Just what I needed. The Minister of Magic watching everything I do and overanalyzing it. It's almost as bad as having my father eat dinner with me. Oh wait! It is the same as having my father eat with me, because he IS my father." Clarissa playfully laughed while shaking her head.
At the sound of another familiar voice, Clarissa turned and shook her head at James' teasing comments. "Oh shove it, Potter. Besides, you might have to watch yourself now. I do have some powerful authority on my side, you know. And for your information, not that I have to tell you anything, it was Professor Dumbledore who insisted that he eat with us in the Great Hall, not me. I tried to dissuade him from going back to eat there. You would think he had gotten tired of seeing the professors' faces and such. Then again, he was a troublemaker in school, so he probably is doing this to make sure he doesn't get detention again. Right, Dad?" Clarissa giggled as she teased both James and her dad. She was happy that her parents got along well with her friends, and vice versa (for the most part).

"Aww, Mr. Potter. I see that you've made Head Boy this year. Congratulations. I myself was Head Boy while at Hogwarts. Maybe that is a sign of your future success." Christopher ignored that playful teasing between Clarissa and James Potter. He knew that all of her friends teased her, as she did them. It was a sign of normal teenagers.
He laughed at Clarissa's teasings and shook his head. "More like me than you thought, huh, James? I was the trouble making Head Boy and it seems that you are as well. And I'll tell you what. Seeing as you are one of Clarissa's friends, you can call me Christopher. None of the Minister or Mister stuff. I'll even just accept Kingsley if you would prefer that, but I like to keep it informal." He looked up at the guards by the door then at the sky. "Shall we go inside? It looks like rain."

"Stop that! "
Lily's voice shouted as she saw a couple of fourth year Slytherins ganging up on a second year Hufflepuff. If there was one thing that annoyed Lily most in a person it was bullying. That was the main thing that kept her away from James all of those years. Because of how he treated Snape. But now, he hadn't done that a lot lately. But, that didn't mean that everyone else stopped with him.
Groaning she saw that the two Slytherins were still tormenting the poor little girl and instead of using a spell she walked up, glared, yelled, and punched them right in the face. However her eyes widened as she heard a crack in her wrist. Gasping she turned around to them, only to find them leaving and the little Hufflepuff girl was crying. "Hey are you going to be alright?" The girl smiled and Lily bent down to her level and talked to her smiling and hugging her before the girl ran off smiling again after Lils had got her to giggle. Sighing she began walking to the Entrance Hallway.
Once inside she allowed her hand to rest in the palm of her other one as she saw James and smiled walking up to him gracefully with a huge smile. " Hey baby-" She started but then spotted the Minster of Magic and her face flushed red with embarrassment. "Hello Minister. " Lily greeted him hoping she hadn't heard her greet James. With a smile she nodded towards Clarissa as if saying hello. Then she walked to James side and resisted the temptation to kiss him or grab his hand. "Is everything going okay?" She asked worriedly.
