Rian made his way down to the Quidditch pitch with his broom. The problem with living in a city was that he wasn't allowed to ride his broom during the summer or any breaks. Which meant that now, at the beginning of the semester, Rian was pretty rusty. He hadn't actually flown since the end of the Quidditch season the previous term because all of his time had then been consumed with studying for his OWLs and everything else that was going on. But now he was back on campus, and things hadn't quite gotten so busy that Rian didn't have time outside of practice to work on his flying skills.
With tryouts for new team members coming up soon, Rian knew that he had to get back on his game. It wouldn't look good for the Seeker to be a bumbling idiot on a broom during tryouts, that was for sure. No matter how good Rian was during the season, tryouts were a big deal and he had to prove that he was the best for his position, especially since he had hit a bit of a growth spurt at the end of the last school year and wasn't quite as small as he used to be. Size mattered, at least for a Seeker. And Rian no longer had the advantage of being one of the smallest guys in his year since he had finally grown.
The pitch was empty, or at least it appeared to be. Rian had checked, and no one had claimed the space for anything during that period of time, so he had decided to take advantage of the peace and quiet. Rian walked out to the middle of the pitch and mounted his broom, kicking off from the ground and feeling himself rise a few feet off the ground. He then maneuvered the broom off towards the goalposts at one end of the pitch, slowly rising higher and higher off of the ground. By the time he reached the end of the pitch, he was flying a few feet above the tallest of the posts. Rian zoomed around the posts, almost effortlessly steering his way around them. He was doing surprisingly well for not having been on a broom in so long. But of course, that couldn't last.
Rian turned sharply and sank into a dive, speeding towards the ground as if he was trying to capture the Snitch. He had always been good at dives, although he was nothing compared to James Potter. Then again, Potter was the one person who could always beat Rian to the Snitch without much difficulty, despite Rian having the advantage of being smaller. Rian pulled out of the dive a few feet above the ground, but something caught his attention at exactly the wrong moment and he slipped off the broom, landing on his left arm in a rather painful way.

[[OOC: Hope ya don't mind me jumping in, but I just couldn't resist! ]] Hiding out beneath the bleachers during free time did have it's advantages sometimes. For one, he could read in silence, not having to bother with the obnoxious noise-makers that were his classmates. Or in this case, he'd hit two owls with one stone. He'd managed to not only coerce one of the Slytherin females out with him for a brief moment of fun, but he'd gotten to witness one of Ravenclaw's team members take a faulty dive and crash to his inevitable pain. Ah. The fun to be had when he discovered new hiding places. Carelessly shoving his company off to the side- it would be just too much for him to even remember her name- he casually strode out from beneath his hiding place, a smirk just beginning to form. And what came next? Why, the applause, of course. Congratulating the kid on such a stellar performance. He was all for the wordless mockery, after all. Though as loathe as he was to admit it, he had noticed that it had been distraction rather than lack of skill that had cause the fall. Curses. "Looks like I won't even have to be in a game to knock you off your broom, O'Casey," Rhys said quietly, leaning against the edge of the bleachers. "Who needs beaters when a player can inflict their own falls?"

[[ooc - It's cool... left it open for anyone ]] There was a reason why Rian preferred to practice his flying when no one else was around - distractions were dangerous, especially if he was high enough off the ground. Hell, even a few feet could be dangerous if he fell the wrong way, although thankfully he was lucky enough to land on his arm rather than on his head. And while it hurt like a bitch, Rian was just glad that it was only his arm and not something more vital. Rian rolled over onto his back, holding his throbbing hand against his chest as he stared up at the sky. He didn't want to look down and see how bad it was; Rian knew that he needed to go to the hospital wing and have it looked at, but he really just didn't want to move at the moment. Rian sat up quickly, forgetting that he couldn't put weight on his injured wrist when he heard someone's voice talking to him and had to bite his lip to fight back a groan as pain shot up his arm. That was just his luck - of course he would end up making the injury hurt even worse. Once the pain subsided a bit, Rian turned to look at the source of the voice, sighing. "Fuck off, Takahashi," Rian said, moving his injured hand back against his chest. Rian could already see that his wrist was beginning to swell, even in just the few short moments since he'd hit the ground. It was bad, that was for sure. He would have to go see Madame Pomfrey for sure now - the first professor he ran into was sure to send him straight off to the hospital wing at first glance. Especially if it decided to start bruising over, which Rian felt was inevitable at this point. Rian pulled his legs closer to his body in an attempt to get up onto his feet without having to use his hands, seeing as his right was currently employed in stabilizing his left against his chest. He tried not to move it too much, because every little movement hurt. Honestly, if it had been anyone but a Slytherin, Rian would have been more than willing to take any help that might be offered in this predicament. But as it was, Rian was on his own. Not only would Takahashi never actually offer to help a Ravenclaw, Rian wouldn't have accepted any help from the other boy even if it had been offered. Rian had too much pride and too much common sense to believe that the other boy was actually capable of trying to help him without having some kind of ulterior motive - perhaps even an idea of trying to make Rian's injury worse in some way to keep him off the Quidditch pitch for even longer than Rian was probably already looking at.

Rhys watched Rian struggle to get back to his feet with faint amusement. The kind of amusement that was hardly seen on his expression. It didn't really work with the type that didn't show much in way of facial expressions. Effort, in his opinion.
"Fuck off, Takahashi."
Rhys just about chuckled at the insult. Almost. Instead, he chose to make himself more comfortable against the side of the bleachers. "I was trying to," he said, "But your catastrophic lack-of-skills when it comes to a broom disturbed me."
He glanced behind him briefly towards the girl who had accompanied him. She was pretty, of course. But not very interesting anyway, so he didn't really mind. It had just been something to pass the time. Something to do. So it was no skin off his back if things were disrupted. Not that he would actually admit to that.
"Do you need me to get one of your House sitters, O'Casey? Can't get up with such a simple injury? Pity to think I thought you were made of slightly stronger stuff."
Rhys didn't really have anything against the Ravenclaws. Nothing against anyone really, unless they were just plain annoying... like most Gryffindors were. But he was a Slytherin through and through, and by default that made him an ass to everyone. Even his fellow housemates.

Rian hadn't really been all that happy about falling off his broom to begin with, but the fact that a Slytherin had seen him only made it worse. And the fact that it had been Rhys Takahashi... well, Rian was about ready to hit something. Of course, that would have done more harm than good, so it was a very good thing that Rian had every intention of controlling his emotions in this situation. It wouldn't do to have points taken away from Ravenclaw for fighting when he was already injured and hurting Ravenclaw's chances at Quidditch.
Rian finally managed to get to his feet without using his hands, still holding his injured left hand to his chest and trying not to move it at all. Rian scoffed at the insult Rhys tried to throw his way. "Wouldn't have bothered you if you hadn't been making so much bloody noise," Rian replied, nodding towards the girl. "Though I don't know why you're even bothering with that one. The whole school knows you won't be getting any there, no matter how hard you try." The girl looked offended, but she was a Slytherin and Rian didn't particularly care if he offended her. He was already in pain and he didn't really care if he hurt anyone's feelings.
Rian shook his head at Rhys's rude comments about him needing help to get up. "You try getting your arse off the ground without using your hands," he replied. He took an opportunity to look down at his injured wrist, and felt his stomach turn as he saw how swollen it had already gotten. He tried to move his fingers and winced as pain shot up his arm again. He held his hand over his broom and muttered a command that caused it to rise up into his hand. He would have to put it away in the broom shed before he went to the hospital wing.
