Yes, we have character rules too.
1. Reiterated from the general rules: only one character per account & you are allowed more than one character as long as they are kept active. You are allowed up to four characters and these must be mixed genders. If you have 4, 2 must be females and 2 must be males. If you have 2, 1 a female and 1 a male. If you only intend on having 3, your third can be any gender.RULE CHANGE AS OF 2/5/09 - You may have characters of any gender, but you are restricted to 3 characters per person.
2. Remember your character's age and year. I cannot stress this enough. This rule applies to various aspects, described in the next few items listed below.
3. Your avatar must be suitable for your character's age. Don't give a 17 year old the picture of a 45+ year old actor or actress. Be reasonable.
4. Spells and hexes are learned during certain years. For example, you can't just assume that you know a lot of them, just because you're a Pureblood. Seventh years will naturally know more than first years. Dark Magic, such as the Unforgivable Curses, can only be known by certain people that are taught via roleplay, or depending on their statuses (ie. Death Eater). The second part of the password is mora.
5. Actions should be moderated carefully. Please don't have your 12-year-old characters having sex. That's just wrong, and not tasteful. It's understandable that sexual actions are possible to happen, but just remember that other people might be reading too. Remember to mark your threads with an [R] if such an occurance happens.
6. Concerning ages, the divisions of each year are as follows:
First Year - 11 or 12 years old
Second Year - 12 or 13 years old
Third Year - 13 or 14 years old
Fourth Year - 14 or 15 years old
Fifth Year - 15 or 16 years old
Sixth Year - 16 or 17 years old
Seventh Year - 17 or 18 years old
Your age will depend on your selection of your character's birthdate, as in the month and time of year. Of course, if you chose a January birthday, then they will be a little older than the other students in their year. The first age listed is probably the age that your character would be if they had a late birthday; and the second is what they would have with an early birthday. But once again - be reasonable in your choices.
