At his words of comfort, Narcissa felt herself relax for the first time since she'd seen Clarissa. Her shoulders slumped, back untensing, and a little hint of color touched her pale face as her blue eyes began to water. For the first time in months Narcissa felt the burn of tears, and humiliation made her throat clench up.
"I'm sorry Regulus," she said meekly, her voice a squeak. He kissed her forehead affectionately, but then he pulled back, and Narcissa remembered that they were in public. "It's just...after Andy left, and with the way things have been going...I thought that you..."
Squeezing her misty blue eyes shut, Narcissa tried to hide her tears from her cousin, ashamed. Not only had she accused him of being a traitor, but now she was crying about it. It wouldn't have been so bad if they'd been at home, but out in the real world, she and her siblings always recieved stares. It had seemed natural to Narcissa to show physical affection to her sisters and cousins as a child, but at Hogwarts she learned that the level of love displayed in public was different than at home. She could kiss Bellatrix during the summer, but at school, it was deemed inappropriate to do so. Darker rumors claimed that the Black family was wrought with incest, and any signs of physical affection between she and her relations only added fuel to the fire.
"We can't do this here...I can't do this here, Regulus. This isn't for them to see."
She wasn't just referring to Diagon Alley...Narcissa feared the world, as suspicious of them as they were of her.
"Can we go someplace else?"

Regulus nodded as Narcissa asked to go someplace else. Wouldn't want to have someone in the wizarding world see them and go tell everyone that the Blacks were in love with each other. It would put an even bigger black spot over their family. He stood, pulling her chair back for her. He held his arm out for her to take.
"I have a room at the Leaky Cauldron where we can talk more without prying ears or eyes. I'll explain everything to you that you've missed in the last few years. All the things that I was told not to tell you. How does that sound?"
He wrapped his arm around her waist, not caring any more if anyone looked at them. She was his cousin, why shouldn't he love her like a sister? Besides, almost everyone knew that she was engaged to Lucius Malfoy. He was a name to be feared all in himself. And he was about to marry into the Black family. They would be even more feared. A part of Regulus loved the idea, a smaller part wanted to be part of the good crowd.

Narcissa nodded, trusting him completely. Regulus was family, after all...and if you couldn't trust your family, then who could you trust?
Narcissa didn't have an answer to that question.
Losing her sister Andromeda to the muggle world had been one of the biggest tragedies Narcissa had ever lived through, and even with everything that had happened between them, she still needed her big sister. The knowledge that Bellatrix hated Andy's entire lifestyle still wasn't enough for Narcissa to cut ties, but each letter exchanged and each secret visit to Andy's flat cut into Narcissa, until she felt emotionally crippled. She couldn't take another betryal, so she clung to Regulus's arm and layed her head on his shoulder.
"Let's go, Reg."
